Andrea is the founder of Balance In Motion. She graduated from the University of British Columbia in 2007 with her bachelor of Human Kinetics, Exercise Science. Andrea is a practicing member under the British Columbia Association of Kinesiologists (BCAK). She is also a certified Medical Exercise Specialist (MES) through the American Academy of Health Fitness & Rehabilitation Professionals. She also holds certification to be a Functional Movement Systems™ Provider.
Andrea specializes in athlete performance and rehabilitation through corrective exercises. She is the strength & conditioning coach for the Richmond Rapids Swim Team. Throughout university she worked with UBC’s varsity sports team as an athletic trainer for men’s rugby and football. Andrea has extensive experience working in a rehabilitation setting including being the kinesiologist at Watermania Sports Therapy Clinic for three years. There she worked in conjuction with experienced physiotherapists to design and direct rehabilitation exercise programs for people with a variety of health goals, as well as athletes looking improve their sport. Andrea is committed to assisting people accomplish their goals, rehabilitate their injuries, and reach their top level of performance no matter what barriers stand in their way.
Josh joined the Balance in Motion team in May of 2011. A UBC graduate of the Human Kinetics, Exercise Science stream, Josh brings experience, education and enthusiasm to the table. He is a practicing member under the British Columbia Association of Kinesiologists (BCAK). Josh also holds certification to be a Functional Movement Systems™ Provider.
Josh has several years of experience in rehabilitation from working in a variety of physiotherapy clinics, and is the current kinesiologist at Watermania Sports Therapy Clinic. The collaboration with physiotherapist has allowed Josh to work with patients through the diagnosis process, rehabilitation and development of exercise programs that cater individual’s specific needs. Josh has further established himself in strength and conditioning coaching from his extensive involvement with the Senior UBC men’s basket ball team assisting high level athletes evolve into their full potential. Josh is passionate about healthy living and physical activity, and remains extremely active through various sports and activities and feels his knowledge of the physical demands that training and sport requires allows him to get the most out of his athletes.
